Sheffield Testing Laboratories is an independent testing facility established in 1880. Because of our growing business we are looking to recruit a Corrosion Manager and technician within the Corrosion Division. Facilities within the Corrosion Division include modern conventional corrosion and metallurgy laboratories in addition to an extensive high-temperature high-pressure autoclave laboratory and a dedicated H2S laboratory. The Division presently serves a wide range of industries including Oil and Gas, Marine, Water/Desalination, Chemical, Power and Construction.



CORROSION ENGINEER

Initially the position is a 13 month contract to cover maternity leave, but due to the growth of the corrosion related activities such as testing, corrosion failure analysis and consultancy we expect the suitable candidate will be offered a permanent position as a corrosion engineer/consultant hereafter. The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate in materials science / chemistry or related discipline. Experience of working in a laboratory environment would be of particular advantage, but a good character which fits in with the team and type of work is the most important. Responsibilities include: handling testing enquiries from customers, management of corrosion testing programmes, preparation and execution of experiments and investigations, analysing and reporting results, control of the UKAS quality system in the lab, amongst other management commitments. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.

CORROSION TECHNICIAN

The successful candidate will ideally have a HND in a science related discipline or 5 years relevant work experience in laboratory environment. Responsible for day to day routine testing within the laboratory and the setting up of experiments. The successful candidate will work within a UKAS accredited laboratory under the supervision of the Corrosion Manager. Responsibilities will include preparation and execution of experiments and reporting of results, metallographic preparation and examination of test specimens. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
