Litigation
Many of STL's investigations into corrosion and other failures can potentially result in litigation. However, the majority of our cases result in an unambiguous finding for the cause of the failure and hence litigation is not necessary. We have prepared numerous expert witness reports for our clients, when litigation has proved to be necessary. The vast majority of these cases do not proceed once the opposition has studied the strengths of the case we have prepared.

Litigation is pursued for many reasons, and is related to:

• the use of incorrect materials
• the supply of substandard material
• inadequacies in design, resulting in failure
